FAQ
Common questions about the booking process, documents, and driving around Thailand.
How does the booking process work?
You select dates and location on the website, compare vehicles, and complete the booking advance online. Rodavia sends a voucher with supplier contact details and pickup instructions. At the desk you sign the agreement directly with the local company, show your documents, and receive the keys.
What information is in the voucher?
The voucher contains the supplier name, address, phone number, opening hours, your booking reference, vehicle type, included mileage, insurance cover, and any deposit hold requirements. Print it or have it ready on your phone.
Can I change my pickup date or location after booking?
Contact us by email or phone as soon as you know. We check availability with the supplier and confirm the new schedule. Changes depend on fleet availability and may adjust the total. Amendments close to pickup time are harder to arrange.
What do I need at pickup?
Valid passport, home-country driving licence held for at least one year, International Driving Permit, and a credit card in the driver's name for any deposit hold. The supplier checks all originals before handing over the vehicle.
What are the minimum age and licence requirements?
Most suppliers require drivers to be at least 21 years old with a licence held for one year. Some vehicle categories need age 25 or two years' experience. Check the voucher terms for your specific booking.
Is fuel included in the rate?
No. The standard policy is full-to-full: you collect with a full tank and return it full. PTT, Shell, and Bangchak stations are widespread. Keep the final receipt in case the supplier checks the timestamp.
Can I drive to other provinces or cross the bridge to the mainland?
Driving within Thailand is usually allowed. Phuket connects to the mainland via the Sarasin bridge; Koh Samui needs a ferry. Tell the supplier at pickup if you plan island-hopping or long-distance trips. International border crossings are typically not permitted.
What happens if I return the vehicle late?
Suppliers charge extra hours or a full day beyond the agreed time. If you know you will be delayed, call the desk to confirm availability and the additional rate. Returning very late without notice can mean the supplier closes and you pay for another day.
Who do I call if something goes wrong during the period?
Mechanical issues, accidents, and roadside questions go to the supplier first; their number is on the key tag and voucher. For booking-related queries reach Rodavia during office hours Mon-Sun 8:00-20:00 GMT+7 at +66 76 604 217.
